An easy way to maintain the desired appearance and versatility a Costco beds frame, while increasing its service life, is to strengthen an elderly, neglected wooden bed frame with steel angle stiffer and updated hardwood cross-planks. With a little help from the local metal warehouse, steel cross members are relatively cheap and easy to build.
How to fix a wooden beds frame; remove the old wooden bed frame infrastructure. Sure on any bed position in the bed runner joints, ensuring a robust bed lining circumference. Cut two 90 degree steel angles stiffer to the length. The length of the struts is determined by the length of the bed frame. Cut the stitches 2 inches shorter than the length of the mattress box spring.
Drill a series of 3/16 inch holes along one side of 90 degree angle steel stiffer; the holes should be 3 to 4 inches apart. Along the opposite side of the 90 degree angle stiff, drill four 1/4 inch holes equidistant along the bottom side of the angle stitches (these holes will be used for bolt hardwood cross-planks to the angle stiffer). Use 1 1/4 ” grabber screws, screw metal stiffer to the bedside frame with bottom angle flush with bedside lateral runner boards. Cut four hardwood cross planks. The length of the planks will be determined by the width of the wooden bed frame.
